- 1Preparation and positioning. Use a stable bench or rack and a non-slip foot surface. Secure the load and position it over a padded, controllable contact point; do not balance a loose bar or dumbbell where it can roll.
- 2Starting position. Set the forefoot on the chosen surface, keep pressure through the first and fifth metatarsal heads, and hold the knee near 90 degrees.
- 3Concentric phase. Raise the heel through plantar flexion while keeping the foot from rolling inward or outward.
- 4Top position. Pause at the highest controlled position without bouncing or shifting the load.
- 5Eccentric phase. Lower slowly to the same bottom marker and maintain the prescribed knee angle.
- 6Breathing and bracing. Breathe normally and use any rack support only for balance, not upward assistance.
- 7Valid rep. A rep reaches repeatable top and bottom markers with stable foot pressure, knee angle, and load position and no bounce.
Häufige Fehler
Bouncing through the Achilles tendon
Korrektur: Pause briefly at the top and control the full lowering phase.
Rolling the foot
Korrektur: Keep pressure across the forefoot rather than collapsing to the inner or outer edge.
Changing the knee angle
Korrektur: Keep the prescribed straight- or bent-knee position constant.
Using the support to pull
Korrektur: Use the hands only for balance and reduce difficulty if needed.
Sicherheit
Progressionen & Alternativen
- RegressionBent-knee Calf Raise— Reduce strength, balance, or coordination demand while rehearsing the key pattern before returning to Seated Dumbbell Calf Raise.
- ProgressionLoaded Barbell Seated Calf Raise— Increase load, range, instability, or skill demand after Seated Dumbbell Calf Raise is repeatable through the planned volume with reserve and no technique drift.
- AlternativeWadenheben an der Beinpresse— Train a similar primary pattern with a different stability, equipment, or joint-loading profile when Seated Dumbbell Calf Raise is impractical or poorly tolerated.
