- 1Preparation and positioning. Clear a fall zone, check the floor and wall, and warm the wrists and shoulders. Place the hands a comfortable shoulder-width from the wall and face the wall.
- 2Entry. Enter with a controlled wall walk or kick-up; do not use a maximal blind kick. Spread the fingers and distribute pressure through the heel of the hand and fingertips.
- 3Hold position. Stack wrists, elbows, shoulders, ribcage, pelvis, knees, and ankles as closely as your current mobility allows. Keep elbows extended, push tall through the shoulders, and use the fingers to make small balance corrections.
- 4Alignment standard. Keep the chest facing the wall with only light toe contact; do not rest the pelvis or legs on the wall.
- 5Breathing and bracing. Use quiet breaths while maintaining abdominal and glute tension sufficient to limit uncontrolled lumbar extension. Do not hold your breath for the entire attempt.
- 6Exit. Come down before control is lost, using the rehearsed wall-walk, step-down, or cartwheel exit. Land with clear space and soft knees.
- 7Valid hold. Timing begins only after the prescribed stack and control are established and ends at the first wall assist beyond the stated standard, foot contact, elbow bend, hand walk beyond the allowed limit, or loss of a safe exit.
Häufige Fehler
Rib flare and banana shape
Korrektur: Push tall, bring ribs toward pelvis, and shorten the attempt before lumbar extension becomes the balance strategy.
Soft elbows
Korrektur: Rotate the elbow pits forward only as comfortable and maintain active elbow extension without forceful hyperextension.
Passive shoulders
Korrektur: Keep pressing the floor away so the head stays between actively elevated, controlled shoulders.
No controlled exit
Korrektur: End early enough to use the rehearsed step-down or cartwheel rather than waiting for a fall.
Sicherheit
Progressionen & Alternativen
- RegressionPike-Liegestütz mit erhöhten Füßen— Reduce strength, balance, or coordination demand while rehearsing the key pattern before returning to Chest-to-wall Handstand Hold.
- ProgressionFreier Handstand— Increase load, range, instability, or skill demand after Chest-to-wall Handstand Hold is repeatable through the planned volume with reserve and no technique drift.
- AlternativeBack-to-wall Handstand Hold— Train a similar primary pattern with a different stability, equipment, or joint-loading profile when Chest-to-wall Handstand Hold is impractical or poorly tolerated.
