  1. 1Preparation and positioning. Use a level mat or bench and hold the load close to the chest unless another position is explicitly programmed. Secure the feet only if that standard is intentional.
  2. 2Starting position. Lie back to the prescribed torso marker with knees and hips positioned consistently, neck neutral, and load secure.
  3. 3Concentric phase. Flex the trunk and hips to sit up through the chosen range without throwing the arms or pulling the head forward.
  4. 4Top position. Reach the same upright marker with the load controlled and without excessive lumbar overextension.
  5. 5Eccentric phase. Lower the torso under control to the same bottom marker; do not drop onto the bench or floor.
  6. 6Breathing and bracing. Exhale through the rise and inhale during the controlled lowering while maintaining abdominal control.
  7. 7Valid rep. A rep uses the same foot condition, load position, and torso range and contains no arm throw, neck pull, bounce, or uncontrolled descent.

Häufige Fehler

  • Replacing trunk control with momentum

Korrektur: Slow the rep and shorten the lever or range until the pelvis and ribcage stay controlled.

  • Pulling the neck

Korrektur: Keep the neck long and let the trunk and hips perform the prescribed motion.

  • Forcing end range

Korrektur: Stop at the longest range that preserves breathing and spinal/pelvic control.

  • Rushing the return

Korrektur: Own the eccentric to the same start marker before the next rep.

Sicherheit

  • If spinal symptoms, radiating pain, numbness, or weakness are present, stop and seek appropriate assessment; do not use bracing cues to train through neurological symptoms.
  • Heavy efforts and prolonged breath-holding can produce large acute blood-pressure responses; people with cardiovascular disease or uncontrolled hypertension need medically appropriate intensity and breathing guidance.

Progressionen & Alternativen

  • RegressionBodyweight Sit-upReduce strength, balance, or coordination demand while rehearsing the key pattern before returning to Weighted Sit-up.
  • ProgressionWeighted Sit-up through a longer controlled rangeIncrease load, range, instability, or skill demand after Weighted Sit-up is repeatable through the planned volume with reserve and no technique drift.
  • AlternativeKabel-CrunchTrain a similar primary pattern with a different stability, equipment, or joint-loading profile when Weighted Sit-up is impractical or poorly tolerated.
