- 1Preparation and positioning. Inspect the band; choose a symmetrical hand position and a stable stance. Stack ribs over pelvis and set the chin gently back without looking upward.
- 2Start position. Arms reach forward at shoulder height, palms neutral or in the defined orientation, elbows soft, band under light tension.
- 3Concentric phase. Separate the hands in a horizontal arc. Let the shoulder blades move toward controlled retraction while the chest and pelvis remain facing forward.
- 4End position. Stop when arms form a comfortable line with the torso and the shoulders remain low; do not force elbows behind the body or squeeze into an exaggerated thoracic extension.
- 5Return phase. Bring hands together over 2–3 seconds, resisting the band without losing pre-tension or letting the shoulders glide forward abruptly.
- 6Breathing and bracing. Exhale quietly during the pull or as required for control; maintain enough trunk tension that the ribs do not flare.
- 7Valid repetition. Hands begin and return to the same forward marker; no step, trunk rotation, shrug, or bend-and-straighten elbow impulse occurs.

Sicherheit
- Use a flat band or loop held in both hands at approximately shoulder height. Start with the band already lightly stretched and with hands far enough apart that full-range pulling does not require a shoulder shrug or lumbar extension. Stand tall, sit supported, or use a half-kneeling position if it is needed to prevent trunk substitution. The reference definition here is a **horizontal, arms-at-shoulder-height pull-apart with near-straight but not forcibly locked elbows**; diagonal and overhead versions are different configurations and need their own definition if programmed separately.
- Shoulder and cervical symptoms require a defined, symptom-free range or manual review; the exercise is not the first choice where the band can cross the face, the athlete cannot keep the trunk still, or a more stable supported pulling alternative better matches the goal.
Progressionen & Alternativen
- RegressionSeated Band Pull-Apart with shorter range— reduce balance and trunk-substitution demand
- ProgressionBand-Face-Pull am Anker— add defined anchor and elbow-flexion/rotation coordination
- AlternativeReverse Fly (cable or dumbbell)— when more objective or finer load increments are needed
