- 1Preparation and positioning. Verify the bar or rings, grip, clearance, and dismount. Select the advanced-tuck shape only if it can be held without swinging.
- 2Starting position. Establish the prescribed front-lever body shape with straight arms, controlled scapulae, and the torso near horizontal.
- 3Concentric phase. Pull the handles toward the lower chest while keeping the hips and chosen leg shape at the same height. Bend the elbows without turning the rep into a hip swing.
- 4End position / lockout. Reach the fixed chest-to-handle marker while maintaining the lever line and neutral neck.
- 5Eccentric phase. Extend the elbows under control back to the same lever shape; reduce the lever before allowing the hips to sag.
- 6Breathing and bracing. Use short controlled breaths and strong whole-body tension; stop before breath-holding or shaking prevents a safe exit.
- 7Valid rep. A rep starts and finishes in the same lever shape, reaches the fixed top marker, and contains no kip, hip pike, or unplanned leg change.
Häufige Fehler
Using trunk or leg momentum
Korrektur: Make the body quiet, lower the difficulty, and initiate the pull through the upper arms.
Shrugging through the pull
Korrektur: Keep the neck long and let the scapulae move under control rather than collapsing toward the ears.
Cutting the lower range
Korrektur: Return to the same controlled straight-arm marker on every rep.
Jutting the head to reach
Korrektur: Keep the head neutral and move the chest/body to the fixed marker.
Sicherheit
- This is a high-skill movement: use a mastered regression, a rehearsed bailout, and supervision or spotting when a failed rep could cause a fall.
- If spinal symptoms, radiating pain, numbness, or weakness are present, stop and seek appropriate assessment; do not use bracing cues to train through neurological symptoms.
- For adolescents, older beginners, or anyone new to this movement, progress by technical competence and use qualified supervision rather than age-based loading targets or forced maximal attempts.
Progressionen & Alternativen
- RegressionWeighted Inverted Row— Reduce strength, balance, or coordination demand while rehearsing the key pattern before returning to Advanced Tuck Front Lever Row.
- ProgressionFull Front Lever Row— Increase load, range, instability, or skill demand after Advanced Tuck Front Lever Row is repeatable through the planned volume with reserve and no technique drift.
- AlternativeLatzug zur Brust am Kabel— Train a similar primary pattern with a different stability, equipment, or joint-loading profile when Advanced Tuck Front Lever Row is impractical or poorly tolerated.
