  1. 1Preparation and positioning. Verify the bar or rings, overhead clearance, grip, and a safe dismount. Warm the shoulders, elbows, and scapular-control pattern before loading the lever.
  2. 2Entry. From a controlled hang or tucked inversion, set the shoulders and extend into the advanced-tuck lever shape without swinging. Keep the elbows straight for the hold variation.
  3. 3Hold position. Maintain a nearly horizontal shoulder-to-hip line, strong shoulder extension, straight elbows, and a posteriorly controlled pelvis. Keep the neck neutral and the scapulae controlled rather than forcefully pinched.
  4. 4Shape standard. Keep the chosen hip and knee position unchanged; do not raise the hips to shorten the lever or let them sag below the defined line.
  5. 5Breathing and bracing. Use short controlled breaths behind firm trunk tension. End the attempt before breath-holding, shaking, or grip loss prevents a controlled dismount.
  6. 6Exit. Return through a tuck to a controlled hang or step down; do not drop suddenly into the shoulders or release from height.
  7. 7Valid hold. Timing starts when the target shape, straight elbows, and horizontal reference are established and stops when the shape, height, elbow position, grip, or controlled exit is lost.

Häufige Fehler

  • Hips sagging or rising

Korrektur: Use the horizontal torso/hip marker and shorten the lever before the line changes.

  • Elbows bending

Korrektur: Keep the elbows straight and regress the lever when arm position can no longer be maintained.

  • Changing the tuck or leg shape

Korrektur: Fix the hip and knee configuration before timing and end the hold when it changes.

  • Swinging into the hold

Korrektur: Enter from a controlled tuck and establish a quiet position before the timer starts.

Sicherheit

  • This is a high-skill movement: use a mastered regression, a rehearsed bailout, and supervision or spotting when a failed rep could cause a fall.
  • For adolescents, older beginners, or anyone new to this movement, progress by technical competence and use qualified supervision rather than age-based loading targets or forced maximal attempts.

Progressionen & Alternativen

  • RegressionTuck Front LeverReduce strength, balance, or coordination demand while rehearsing the key pattern before returning to Advanced Tuck Front Lever.
  • ProgressionSingle-leg Front LeverIncrease load, range, instability, or skill demand after Advanced Tuck Front Lever is repeatable through the planned volume with reserve and no technique drift.
  • AlternativeBand-assisted Front LeverTrain a similar primary pattern with a different stability, equipment, or joint-loading profile when Advanced Tuck Front Lever is impractical or poorly tolerated.
